Anthropologists say that to understand a person, you must understand the groups they are from. I want my groups to make such an impact that members carry their group with them for years.


Although it’s become fashionable for an executive to have his or her own coach, you can get great results in a group setting. Group meetings are experiential — nothing like your typical staff meetings. My groups are all different, and I love each of them.

Despite their differences, across all my groups I’m looking for a few good men and women who are:

Committed to continual learning, taking risks and trying new behaviors to become better leaders.
Authentic and willing to be vulnerable within the group; they’ll seek the group’s help to resolve issues.
Open to the idea that their group can become “armed & dangerous” and they’ll feel about that group the way they felt about other powerful groups or teams they’ve been members of.

NEWGRANGE INSIDE: Group Coaching for Your Executive Team

Newgrange Inside is a version of what I do with my groups customized to fit the particular needs of a company’s executive team. I become the facilitator of executive team meetings while the company owner/CEO is able to focus on participating in the meetings with their team.

Newgrange Inside meetings can be monthly senior staff meetings or special project meetings. Either way, I do the meeting prep, facilitation and follow-up with the advice and consent of the owner/CEO.

The program is customized to meet the needs of your team. It combines group meetings facilitated by me with 1:1 coaching sessions, EQ-i assessments and Immunity Mapping. The program goals are to:

  • Improve the performance of the group and make meetings more productive.
  • Give participants a better understanding of group dynamics and what causes some groups to perform at a high level, while others go off the rails.
  • Build each member’s self-awareness and create alignment within the group.

It can be incredibly informative to talk to members and ask why they invest so much of their time and talent in the group. If you would like to speak to a current or past member as a reference, please let me know.

  • Q: Why join a group?
    A:

    Members join a group for the same reasons an individual engages an executive coach; they want to become more effective leaders. They can also take advantage of the fellowship, collective wisdom and peer pressure of their fellow members in a group setting.

  • Q: How does it work?
    A:

    Each of my groups meets once a month for half a day. All meetings start at 9:00 AM and end at 1:30 PM. Member attendance is critical to the success of the group.

  • Q: What can I expect?
    A:

    The group is a place where members get their answers questioned. They can expect to be challenged by the other members and held accountable for their commitments. They can also expect to make friendships that can last a lifetime.

  • Q: How long do members stay in the group?
    A:

    There’s no set time for how long members stay in a group. If members are getting value and it’s worth their time to spend a half-day working on (instead of in) their businesses, they stay. All members are responsible for the longevity of the group and its members. If they care about the success of their fellow members and the group, they’ll invest their time and talent to make the group powerful and effective. When this happens, everyone benefits and it’s hard to leave.
