Welcome to my blog.

I use it to think out loud about things I find interesting. The topics I blog about typically fall into one of five categories:

  • Newsmakers: The people, events and issues currently making news.
  • Big Ideas and Big Thinkers: This is where I comment on the idea of people I admire who, to quote Daniel Burnham, make no small plans.
  • Leadership Lessons: I’m a student of leadership and this is where I talk about a variety of leadership topics.
  • Sports: I don’t comment on sports so much as I discuss things leaders can learn from the world of sports.
  • Mike’s Musings: This section is reserved for stuff, anything I find interesting can find a home here.

I want my blogs to be thought provoking and (sometimes) humorous. If anything I’ve written gets your attention and you’d like to comment; I’d love to hear from you.

All the best,

Riley’s world is rocked when her family moves from Minnesota to San Francisco. The movie…

I was driving this morning and as I crested a hill, on the opposite side of the road I spotted a cop, radar gun in hand, intent on bagging his quota of speeders. I passed him and began flashing my headlights at oncoming drivers to warn them to slow down. Sadly, I don’t believe enough young drivers have been taught this informal rule of the road. Before I was old…

No Sweat’s Anti-Commencement Address

Monday, June 8th, 2015 | By: Mike Donahue

Feel free to pass it along to members of the Class of 2015. Mikey, I’ve attended two high school commencements in the last two weeks. Both were boring as hell and featured speakers full of happy horse shit about the places these seniors…
